Reflection on Critical Thinking : The Soul of Communication

It's shocking how having poor communication skills can lead up to dire consequences. A whitepaper in 2008 reveals that about US$37 billion was lost due to poor communication. 

This shows that being able to speak is not enough. One has to have critical thinking and also good communication skills in order to work efficiently. Being able to pass information and getting workers to understand them can be difficult if your communication skill is weak. Furthermore, being a leader means that you have the responsivity of relaying instructions to your team members. Failure to do so can result in project failure in the worst-case scenario. Critical thinking is important as there are many solutions so we have to be flexible with our thought process. We might be able to find a more effective way to solve an issue if we think outside of the box.

I agree that having critical thinking and communication skills is an important set of skills one must have when stepping out into the industry. It is one of the tools we can use to market ourselves.
